As promised, the DD2
Rotax DD2…WOW these ear splitting rockets will catapult you down the straits at over 90mph, that’s about 145kph here in The Red & White country of Canada. This according to one of my learned colleges at the track this last weekend.
These are the “Basics”
Rotax 125 MAX DD2
24 kW / 32.6 HP
and 2-speed gearbox
FUEL SUPPLY Carburetor
Look those specs over. Did you notice the 32.6 Horse Power? Let’s keep this in perspective a wee bit. The old VW’s of the 60’s had a 36 HP four cylinder Boxer engine. This was a car! The Bug. Here we have a Go Kart with a two speed transmission and 32.6 HP from a single cylinder 2 cycle engine.
Yup…well rounded. Check out the photos. They will give you a close up look at all the technical goods that go into one of these karts.
Rotax engines are used in BRP’s (Bombardier Recreational Products),Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft and boats, Can-Am Spyder roadsters, all-terrain and side-by-side vehicles as well as motorcycles, karts, and in light and ultra-light aircraft.
Tomorrow I’ll be back at Greg Moore Raceway for “Round Four” of the “2012 Western Canadian 250 Gold Cup”. The gate are open at 7:00am. Come one come all.
